My PASSION lies in film... film editing and script writing were among my favorite studies. As such, I eagerly sought to participate in the company's video projects however I could contribute most usefully. Much of the video work I did for UTC comprised of staging, filming and editing proprietary product and training presentations as such I do not have access or permission to share the files. I demonstrated knowledge of and skills in video production over the years. Therefore management was willing to invest in video and studio equipment to improve and expand in-house production.
None the less, most of the marketing video work was out-sourced. As a team, our objective was always to produce the highest quality content. Would assist in each project as deemed necessary to reduce costs whenever possible. My contributions included post-production editing, dressing sets, assistant to production director and recruiting employee extras. Editing duties included recreating animated graphic effects and extracting sound effects from existing video soundtrack for new version without use of source files. This page also features some illustration, GIF animation and web design work.
Marioff HI-FOG® "Protecting Your Cloud with Mist" Video KFS Clean Agent Revision

Unfortunately, I had saved the Adobe After Effects and Photoshop files for edit of the Marioff "Protecting Your Cloud with Mist" video to only one external drive. That drive was corrupted and the files were lost before I could save folder to another drive. Due to the size, singular purpose and temporary nature of these project files none were ever stored on the network.
The Marketing Communications Director assigned this project April 2017. He expected the revised file finished within 4 week. I completed this work to meet the assigned deadline. The video played on digital display featured at the KFS booth at the NFPA Conference and Expo held June 4 -7 in Boston, MA.
Project specs included replacing all representations of generic components with KFS control unit and detector throughout. In addition, the pressure units of measure had to be converted from BAR (European) to PSI (U.S.) on monitor displays in 3 sequences. The audio track was edited to remove clean agent system comments. Original video was produced by the Marioff Marketing team in Finland and they were not authorized to share source files for editing.
The first thing I had to do was to extract stills of sequences that contained the control panel, detector and BAR monitor displays. I would use these to create artwork that would cover the unwanted elements in existing video footage. In sequence on the right below, the trick was maintaining the transparency of the drop shadow behind the HI-FOG logo and covering the existing control panel completely without interfering with the tagline text under the logo.
The challenge in the sequence depicted on the left side of the screen capture below was replicating the lighting effect that crosses over each component. Had to cut in the edit to maintain timing of the animated line that connects each component to the next; and lighting moving along the line with the dialog audio track. I could be more liberal with the height of control panel extruding from the circular frame on the left than the right.
The sequence that begins at 1:55 was tricky because the entire frame containing a PSI display monitor warps and blurs as isolated close-up valve with PSI display monitor rises front and center into the shot. Had to extract the still in focus without distortion, edit and then replicate the warp and blur effects. Extracted still of the "full" valve, removed background and saved as a PNG file; duplicated the isolated close-up valve rising into the frame.
I actually went through the exercise of detailing each and every edit in this project but the website altered the font size at this point. I selected all of the text to adjust the font size to conform the previous 6 paragraphs and... "Oops! Something went wrong!" with Adobe Portfolio and the content I spent the better part of a day writing was lost and not recoverable. Have to move on for my own sanity... will come back to this but need to add more content.

Fenwal Protection Systems (FPS) "Clean Agent vs. Water" Video Rebranding
This project was much like the Marioff "Protect Your Cloud with Mist" video edit above. This work was completed 3 years earlier and had more edits. That being the case I will not go into detail about each edit. A list of assets created to edit the video can be seen in After Effects screen capture below; all the video and audio layers and splices can be seen in the Premiere Pro screen capture. The main objective here was to make use of video project commissioned and completed in 2013 for a brand that UTC Senior Management eliminated in 2014.
Again, I extracted stills of sequences that referred to the FPS brand and then created Kidde Fire Systems branded files in Photoshop that I imported into After Effects to mask the original file. We auditioned and contracted new voiceover talent as it had to be completely replaced. I removed the voiceover track from the existing soundtrack and mixed the new file with original music and sound effects. In the asset library I had audio tracks from various system testing discharges; selected a track to boost the discharge audio and "reversed" that track to enhance the sequence pictured below. The original video is embedded below because the brand no longer exists.

2018 KFS SUMMIT Meeting Kick-Off Video
This project was a lot of fun! The Marketing Director and I collaborated on every aspect from storyboarding and soundtrack to stock photo/video footage selection and effects styles. The lead in of Ozzy Osbourne's "Crazy Train" was chosen because this was the first time the KFS SUMMIT meeting would open with a video presentation.
Keynote Speaker, "Mr. Clutch", Drew Pearson of the NFL's Dallas Cowboys fame inspired the football theme. The products featured at the meeting and in video determined the remaining musical selections of "Under Pressure" by Queen and David Bowie and "Smoke on the Water" by Deep Purple. Was an enjoyable challenge to cohesively weave the 3 songs together to fit the storyboard. I did not want to simply cut from one song snippet to the next.
